Final Portfolio

The Society of Illustrators project called for self mailer where one side is four color and the other side is two color. I choose this illustration of a horse and jockey because i enjoyed the movement of the illustration. I wanted to go for a kentucky derby theme and used that catch line "mingle amongst champions" where the champions here would be the illustrators. To give the two color side texture I found a picture of metal horse shoes so i set a low opacity on it so the text on top would be readable. I also used boxes and lines to add movement and jazz the overall brochure.

The Rapala layout was difficult because I am not familiar with such subject matter. I decided to go with a navy blue and red color palette because this ad is for a men's fishing magazine. I kept the overall layout simple and to the point. I added fishing lures in the middle of the text to give an example of the product.

The Red Barn project was a multiple piece campaign to advertise the Red Barn arts and crafts fair. I decided to go for a whimsical rose colored glasses theme because I was inspired by the glass that was being sold at the arts and crafts fair.

The How Safe magazine layout dealt with minimal text which made it somewhat difficult. I used fairly thin columns and a large image to make use the space without the overall layout looking sparse.
The ceramics layout I felt like going for a 70's feel and have the text forming into a ceramic pot. The text is the initial eye catcher. The details are larger and I decided to alternate between black and white text.


The picture of choice project called for one image and three different layouts with different concepts. For the poster I chose to convert the picture by using live trace. The graphic feel allowed me to enlarge the snow boarder without it getting pixelated. I used repetition in the add to cause attraction and to go with the idea of the 3 steps to cleaning your snowboard.
The Secret of Feeling Full layout was extremely text heavy. This left little room for imagery, so the imagery I did use is fairly slim and rectangular. I took colors from my image and echoed them in my headline to make the piece connect.

Joe 6 Pack was a fun project because it was packaging. One of the requirements was to have our name somewhere in the packaging and to come up with the theme. My full name is Regina so i decided to create Ave Regina holy wine spritzer for the crowd that wants to leave room for jesus. I wanted everything about this packaging to be subtle so i used fonts that made viewers focus in more to read what is written.
